CAN YOU GUESS THE PLAYER WITH THE WHITE PIECES ?
I came across this game and could not believe the player who has the white pieces.
It is an opening totally out of his norm.

Hell yeah i can guess the player with the White pieces... It's my number one favourite player Robert James Fischer!!!

ReplyDeleteWell done i knew you would spot it was Fischer straight away.
I found this a very unFischer game.
I think it showed a different side to his play,that we only saw a couple of times.
The Russians had proberly spent years preparing openings against Fischer,as white he would always play 1.e4.
This showed that may not be the case.
Also during the Spassky match,who would have thought Fischer 1.c4.
It was a shame we never got to see more of him opening with something other than 1.e4.
I read recently Kasparov said Fischer chose not to play Karpov in 1975,as he thought he would lose.
I think he would have beaten Karpov
in 75,78 and in 81 it would have been very close.
But Kasparov in 84 maybe,maybe not.
what great matches they would have been.
It's hard to bet against Fischer when you see he can play with this style. I thought it was Petrosian.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think some things had changed, like the the threat of "adjourn for the win" seemed to have disappeared against Fischer. When was the last time you heard Fischer say something like "Gee, I got tired at the end of the time-control and blundered", probably not many times.
